SERVICE SPOTLIGHT: SHRINK-WRAPPING YOUR BOAT

August 9, 2010

It's the simple and cruel reality of winter time in Ohio: leave your boat exposed to the elements and it will have problems. Whether it's a shredded mooring cover, corroded electronics, faded furniture or mildewed carpet, the snow, ice and sun of winter can irreparably damage the investment you have in your boat.

So what's the solution? The best way to cheaply protect your boat from Mother Nature is to shrink-wrap your boat in a durable polyolefin sheeting. This shrink-wrap is a inexpensive and practical alternative to indoor storage, which can often cost more than what you pay for a dock every summer!

Shrinkwrap from Charles Mill Marina

By using a specialized type of shrink-wrap that contours to every edge of your boat, the sun's ultra-violet rays are repelled and cannot harm your boat's carpet, vinyl and fabric. We also hang two mildew bags inside the boat, which serves to wick away moisture and control the spread of mold and bacteria.

When our technicians shrink-wrap a boat, they recommend leaving the motor on the boat, letting us winterize it and then shrink-wrap it along with the boat. The only thing you need to do is take your gas tank and battery with you.
